I'd recommend R&C: A Crack in Time. It's different enough from ToD (for reasons you'll see if you play Quest for Booty or read a summary of what happens) while still being Ratchet and Clank. The Clank parts in particular are my favourite of all the games.
You might not care for Resistance 2, since it doesn't look as good as KZ2, and it's a shame you got a PS3 so late. Back when the game was released, the online co-op was a blast to play, and I'd have recommended the game based on that alone. I don't know if anyone still plays it online now though. I can't comment on R3 or KZ3, since I have yet to play either of them because of college.
