If the reality of God gets reduced to answer of whether or not God exists, and the belief in God is that God exists, then it makes fully perfect and complete sense someone wouldn't want to have anything to do with the area, and their lives go on just fine. Think for a moment about yourself. If people were all hung up, and society, on debating whether you exist, why would you ever bother showing up? Would it be so it is like, "Wow, thank you God. We know you exist. Now excuse me, while I now believe you are real, I have a ballgame to watch. Maybe we can go out for a coffee sometime. I am sure you can tell a story to me about all these acts people say you did that are pretty bad, so I can make sense out of things."
And now it gets reduced to "faith". How boring is that? It is like faith itself gets worshiped? Faith as an idol. Just believe something, anything. It is magical.
