The GNex is worse than the S2. The SoC is crappy.

SoC?

I don't want him to not buy a GS II because it is crappy, I don't want him to get it because it is becoming outdated.

Galaxy Nexus is even more outdated.

You are recommending hardware without knowing what SoC is? Its the System on a Chip, the main chip that includes the processor, GPU, and sometimes the RAM and cellular modem. The GNex uses an older OMAP SoC which has never been bleeding edge, especially compared to Samsung's own Exynos or Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips. The Exynos Dual in the GS2, the Exynos Quad in the GS3, and the Snapdragon S4 or Nvidia Tegra 3 in the HTC One series are VASTLY superior chips.

Its ok I guess. Not really a hardware knock out with its plastic like body and pentile screen. Hardware design too is an acquired taste.

Not sure why they needed a conference to announce this to be honest. Could have just put it on the floor with MWC next to other smartphones.

After seeing this, HTC one X is still my choice for the best Android phone money can buy.

Pentile at 720p isn't very noticeable. That's just a nitpick buzzword these days.

It's not very noticable for sure, but once you see it you can not unsee it...

I personally wouldn't care, but people buying these high specd android phones like to be on the bleeding edge of technology and this is definetly not the best screen they could have used.

Really though Samsung, why not super AMOLED + tech?
------

AMOLED has hit a wall in terms of how many subpixels they can stuff on single screen, and a 720p RGB screen is too many subpixels to have good enough yields.
