Let me guess SethN. :) you want flouridd out of the water.

Considering fluoride only works when it is applied to the teeth ingesting fluoride doesn't make too much sense.  I'd rather just be exposed to it while brushing my teeth.  I don't trust the dental industry too much considering I have a couple fillings in my mouth that probably contain mercury since I got them back before that was phased out.  I give a pat on the back to everyone that thought putting mercury inside someone's mouth was a good idea.  Anyways, I know their intentions are supposed to be for the greater good.

That is right. The fluoride in the water is going to be a part of  the teeth not yet erupted. The fluoride in the water does not do (almost) anything to the teeth you allready have.

Mercury in dental amalgam is not a problem, most studies show that it is harmless. The real problem with mercury is that the remains that dentists don´t use go  to the public sewer system, but most countries requires the use of amalgam separators to retain the mercury.
