Actually when not brushing your teeth, the remains of food in your mouth "feed" microbes that release acids to the teeth and erodes its enamel. Believe me, i know what i´m talking about.

Are you a dentist?
Yes,i am.
Oh... well why didn't you just say so?
I was waiting you to ask lol. Anyway, just brush your teeth after meals, and you will be healthier and live longer.
Now that's something new. How do you live longer by brushing your teeth?
There are several studies showing the correlation between oral dental care/ heart disease, stroke, inflammatory diseases , detecting cancer..., just google it, there´s a lot to read.
Correlation or causation? Can't be bothered to google . Isn't it entirely possible that the ones who take better care of their teeth also take better care of their health in general?
Yes, that could happen in some people, but i don´t think just because you have a good dental care you would have good physical exercice, healthy eating, enough sleep,...people with poor dental habits release larger amounts of bacteria into the blood, and that causes highest chances of a lot of diseases, it´s a constant thread for your body. There´s a imune response that causes inflamation and makes your arteries to narrow.
