not a bad deal for those who want this

Its a horrible deal for anyone.

1) The full price is $100 or more than buying it up front and that's not including the eventual overall price reduction (not tied to contracts) that will happen later this year.

2) The gen is ending and this would force you to be paying for 360 and Gold service at least a year after the next console releases.

3) It would be better to go to KMart and start a lay-away and pay it off that way or simply save the money on your own each month.

You are forgetting that JUST the online services are charged for 2 years AND they are rumored to be much more than standard Gold features. If you buy a 360 for $99, you can still sell it for the new gen console if you want, plus have all your online services carry over. The $15 a month most likely includes a music pass ($10 per month stand alone) of some sort, plus some more TV/media options which again on their own would be $5-10 a month. So in actuallity, you are breaking even to SAVING money on the overall service packages, AND saving money up front on the hardware.

You people are comparing a $460 2 year total deal with a $300 one time purchase not counting in Xbox Live. Adding standard Xbox Live at $60 per year makes it only $460 vs $420. $40 for 2 years of a lot of extra services seems like a pretty good idea if you are wanting those services.

So again, a good deal depending on what the services included in the $15 per month contract actually are.

read my reply above just above.

Hmm seems some people dont know how long term payment plans work for any business.

But more to te point, is it would seem VGC and some havent posted the whole news.

The rumour is that the final price of $460 paid over the 2 years is not just Live Gold. It possibly includes the 2 years of Zune Music which is around $200 for 2 years.

Other rumours suggest its not Zune but it includes 2 years Netflix.

Its not certain what is invloved in the 15/month payment from Live.

Even if its just Live Gold, only costing an extra $40 over the course of 2 years for being able to get all that for alot less on initial cost is a great offer and much better than any plan available in UK for example where APR would be added at a rediculous amount. Pretty much any company would have me paying like $600 by the 2 year end. Microsft are being very reasonable to the consumer in todays climate. Fantastic deal.
