I do not think that is the case. I think the majority of consumers would base wether they want digital or retail based on price. Most consumers when presented with what would be almost two identical products will choose on price. Only collectors or someone who is going to resell their game will care about retail vs download. That was PC gaming where places such as  steam  bundle a lot   of games for ten dollars or so , an example they had a prison sim that i decided  to buy when the price was right it came bundled with 1-4 in the series plus another 4 similar pc games suddenly I had 8 games for S10 most i never wanted, it is a reason that unit sales not Dollar value can be misleading , the other factor is the limited space and range given to PC gaming at retail ,like i said  at the moment the majority still go physical obviously this statement is tied to Consoles since the OP is about Ms policy in regard to new game dl , a medium that relies more on retail than PC who where basicaly abandoned by it and one that sells new games online at retail or in the case of the mass effect 3 DL on  psn Australian store S20 more than Australian retail .

You said a majority wanted physical copies. All i said was that is not really the case. It is the price that matters. Price is more important than the medium.

AS I mentioned in the reply I was talking about consoles since that is what was discussed in the op and highlighted that I said at the moment in regard to physical sales , and then explained why your PC example is some what skewed  , also the availability as well pricing for console is not yet in favour of consumer across the board .
