TruckOSaurus said: Time for some beta impressions: Sadly, I was away most of the Open Beta weekend so I only got to play it on Sunday but I did have the time to go through the whole beta twice. Once with the Demon Hunter and the other with the Monk. To my great surprise I had a better time with the Monk than the Demon Hunter, he featured a great mix of close and medium range attacks. As for the Beta itself, I really really enjoyed it and even though the skill system is very different from Diablo II, the game hasn't lost its Diablo feel. There's tons of stuff the explore, a great variety of enemies, you unlock new skills with every level, there's still plenty of items to be found and with the crafting dynamic finding magic items becomes even more interesting because you now have to choose between getting good money for them or salvaging them for materials. So in short, I can't wait for May 15th! |
Nice Beta impressions, especially those about crafting and dynamic finding magic items, though I've got to be blunt, i'm gonna miss moments like this:
Nothing beats the feeling of finding a truckload of Uniques, especially some very rare ones like the Razorswitch (Jo Staff) and Tiamat's Rebuke (Dragon Shield), though having a MF beast like my level 81 sorceror does help a lot (500% MF). Funny tidbit, even at players 4, Andariel goes down in less than 5 seconds, thanks to my Level 28 Fire Ball which deals 5K average damage at an rate of 25K DPS (at 90% Cast Rate, I can get almost 5 Fire Balls per second).

Did they remove Set Items and Uniques for DIII?
|
There's still Set and Legendary (DIII's Uniques), but the drops are locked to the class you're playing. For example, if you play as a Witch Doctor, you can't get gear that's useful for barbarians and vice-versa. And from what I've gathered in the blizzard forums, the better the items, the rarer the drops, even more so than it was on DII, so these moments, even for gear usable only by your character, will be difficult to obtain.
