I disagree. You're discrediting Apple too much in a way. I'm not sure about the iPod, but they really did a great job with the iPhone and iPad and while I'm sure somebody could bring up a tablet or smartphone that came out before Apple's, I'm sure it wasn't as ergonimical and user friendly as Apple's. For all people talk about innovation, to me the defining feature of Apple's product is easy to use. They're extremely simple and intuitive (ergonomic). And I guess... as dumb as it sounds, good technology products are products that simply make sense.
There's no reason to have a tablet in my opinion. It's essentially a dumbed down laptop. But it DOES have a huge advantage in certain scenarios where you can use it in positions you can't with a laptop, and you have a really easy to use controls with touch (depending on what you want to do). But the value really isn't enough to justify it as a standalone product. As a hybrid, you essentially have everything wrapped up into one. It makes sense to combine the two products. |
