It sounds like you personally have had a bad experience with plasma which has soured you to them in general. You are incorrect in saying plasma technology has a short life span; you could just as easily say the bulbs in LCDs will need replacing as they become dimmer. Both types of TVs today are beyond that.
Of course you're entitled to your opinion of LED displays being superior to plasmas, but the experts (i.e. people from real tech sites that know their stuff and have done extensive testing, not people on gaming sites) almost unanimously disagree with you. Hometheater.com, Cnet... these are the people I listen to, not a Best Buy salesman who says you need a $100 HDMI cable. Check out this link to a real tech site and vote on this poll to see the results. You'll see they are much different to what Player's poll here on the Chartz shows... plasma is far ahead.

To assume that plasmas are worse simply because they are cheaper is also erroneous on your part. LED is a newer tech and is more expensive, and they've done a lot to improve the picture quality of standard LCD panels, but despite jumping through hoops to try and improve areas where plasma performs inherently better, a good plasma display will still best them.
