Absolutely, but only if my kid reads as well. Television and video games will always take a backseat to reading of any kind. I love videogames and while I think they're better than television, they still don't exercise the brain and creativity the way a good book does. I value creativity and while video games offer a bit of it, you're still playing in someone else's world. I will expect my child to be more than a passive consumer of other creations and I think the best way to break out of that mold is to challenge him/her through literature. I want my kid to create something, whether it be through music, video, writing, or art. I think it's one of the most important things a person can do.
