doesn't sound like an attack to me. he was asked if a bad story can ruin a good game. he answered no. he then provided two examples as evidence: gears of war, micheal bay. so it would seem to me he conluded the exact same idea you ended your post in...there is an audience or bombastic, andrenaline rush, summer movie type things.
