It could even beat the Wii this generation if the old hardware becomes completely outdated early. If the wii sells an average of 15million consoles per year over a life of 5 years=75mil(unlikely but possible), then Ps3 only needs to sell an average of 8mil consoles per year for 10 years.

This whole "10 year" thing really needs to stop. Aside from the fact that it's obvious Sony PR, it just doesn't make any logical sense. Let me give you some examples:

The SNES launched (in America) in 1991. How much SNES hardware/software was getting sold in 2001?
The Playstation launched in 1995. How many Playstation games were you buying in 2005?
The N64 launched in 1996. There sure were a lot of N64 games announced in 2006, weren't there?

The whole thing is laughable. No one was interested in purchasing games for the decade-old SNES in 2001; you were probably snapping up exciting new titles like Final Fantasy X or Grand Theft Auto 3 instead. I mean, why would you care about a decrepit, ancient system so long after release? The Playstation was the most successful console ever in history at the time it came out, but by 2005 it was completely and utterly dead. What makes you think that a struggling console like the PS3 will still be embraced by consumers in 2016? However great it is now, it will be HOPELESSLY outdated by then!

Unless you think that games like Super Mario 64 and Final Fantasy VII are cutting-edge today... because they were brand-new tech in 1996!
