While I agree with your POVs about Ocarina of Time (mostly because A Link To The Past is my all time favourite and did everything way better), I don't think you're going to convience anyone who thinks otherwise .

For example, I've read in this thread that Skyward Sword disappointed a ton of people, but personally it's my second favourite Zelda of all time, just barely below ALTTP and way above Ages/Season which are my third favourite) and neither I'll convience anyone who disliked SS that the game is good nor will they convience me that the game is bad. It's all down to personal experience and opinion about the games and in that aspect, OoT catered deeply to a lot of people back then, even if it did have a lot of failings.

oh I know, but it's a load of fun trolling people with nostalgia.  I'm just genuinely baffled by all the love that game gets, since it really is merely 'good', maybe even 'very good', but nowhere near 'the best'.  like we both know, Link to the Past did everything better, even graphically it looked nicer (yes, I know polygons were all the rage, but my god they looked ugly! and Ocarina wasn't much better than it's N64 brethren).

Blah.  I still own it, I give it a solid 7.4 score, but wow I'm sick of people singing its praises when everything it does, other zelda games did it first and/or better.

Indeed, OoT wasn't exactly the best looking game on the n64 at all, even Majora's Mask was better, but not much better (and that's counting the use of the 4MB expansion pack) and a load of games looked better than it (Banjo games, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, etc.).

Basically it's the equivalent to what FFVII (and you said on your latest post) did for JRPGs. Neither of those two games were the best (at all) in their respective series, but both propelled both series (and genres too) to a much more mainstream audience which didn't take notice that there were far better alternatives previously released.
