It's always fun to see people complain about newer Zeldas like skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, or even Wind Waker, but the truth is that all of those games are objectively better by a long shot, and I'm not talking about graphics (though that's also true.) No, all of these games had better design and gameplay. Ocarina was good, I do need to reiterate that point, but it's not the epitome of greatness, there were too many flaws in the game to come anywhere close to 'best ever'; hell, it's been beaten by like 4 iterations of its own series! Link to the Past did everything first (and better, in many ways), Wind Waker had a much better story, controls, and combat, Twilight PRincess had everything Ocarina did but did it much better, smoother, and with much more variety (not to mention the midna/wolf link scenes were pretty cool). I haven't gotten around to playing Skyward Sword yet, as my wii is not here at the moment, but from what I understand the only thing that's even remotely contentious is its control scheme. Ocarina of Time is mediocre, guys, your nostalgia is blinding you. |
While I agree with your POVs about Ocarina of Time (mostly because A Link To The Past is my all time favourite and did everything way better), I don't think you're going to convience anyone who thinks otherwise
.
For example, I've read in this thread that Skyward Sword disappointed a ton of people, but personally it's my second favourite Zelda of all time, just barely below ALTTP and way above Ages/Season which are my third favourite) and neither I'll convience anyone who disliked SS that the game is good nor will they convience me that the game is bad. It's all down to personal experience and opinion about the games and in that aspect, OoT catered deeply to a lot of people back then, even if it did have a lot of failings.
