If its the worst drought since 1976 doesnt that mean 1976 was worse ?

So if we are entering a global water crisis (maybe) right now and not 35 years ago what is this based on ?

That there are droughts on earth and continents/countries with less water ?

Global warming should ensure that the Arctic melts and more water condensates and thus more rain falls.

LOL. More likely Europe will freeze over completely due to change of ocean currents.

http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2004/05mar_arctic/

Westerlies will still blow regardless if the gulf stream sinks mid atlantic due to the greater influx of fresh water. It's the very rotation of the Earth, instead of local climate, that makes temparate latitude landmasses have far warmer winters in ther western half than their eastern half. Compare Labrador to British Columbia, or Kamtchaka to Great Britain (of course Labrador is a bit too far since the foul weather of the Greenland icecap reaches far and wide. No wonder some of the northernmost treelines lie as far as possible from Greenland; Tamir peninsula, over 70 N).

Still you get the picture. To even think Europe will "freeze over completely" even should the GS collapse right now is a bit, well...

I'm sorry, WHAT.

I'm no climatologist, but in physics there is something called parity which is screaming in my ear that you are trivially wrong here.

If the axis of rotation is symmetric about the western and eastern hemispheres then that rotation cannot influence ANY difference between the two.

Seriously dude.WUT.

The main problem lies in that you misread what he said.

Note he said "Compare British Colombia to Labrador"   OR "Great Brtitain to Kamachatka.".  Two examples that suggest you compare two parts of the same continent to each other.

British Colombia and Great Britain are both on the Western parts of their respective continents.  While Labrador and Kamachatka are on the Easter parts.

Due to the "westerlies" in the North,   British Columbia and Great Britian have the westerlies blow in to them from the oceans, creating a warming effect.

By western half and eastern half he meant the western half of a continent vs the easter half of a continenet.

If you were to completely reverse the rotation of the Earth.  The Westerlies and Easterlies would essentially reverse... thawing out Kamatchaka and freezing GB.

Thanks for the clarification.
