Self taught. Since I was very young (2/3 years old) I've had contact with the english language without any kind of subtitles (in movies or series, since I lived in Venezuela and we had Direct TV and only watched US channels) or translations (in video games), so I had to force myself, with some help of my parents (but not that much, since their english skill levels weren't that much back then too) to understand it, thanks to dictionaries and associations.
Thanks to that, by the time I was 6, I could speak 3 different languages fluently.
