My name is Francesco. It's the most common name in Italy.

Isn't it awesome that the most common name in Italy mean "French"?

Yep :) There's actually a specific reason for it.

The name francesco became so popular maily because of Saint Francesco d'Assisi, who was a very popular saint.

Saint Francesco gained his name beacuse his parents were silk merchants and francesco, in medieval language (in modern language french = francese), was an attribute to define the refinement of french silk.
