I think you forgot Gears of War. Anyway, first party games don't really matter to me in that case. Really it was the glut of that genre in the beginning. It's changed overtime, but my original bias is still there. Since I bought all the non-FPS  multiplat games on my PS3 in the beginning I still do now. Im 'invested' in the PS3 in terms of games and trophies, the only thing I would use my X360 for would be exclusive shooters.

So mabye I should remove strike two.

Gears of War is a 3rd party game

Hmm, yes. Published by MS, developed by Epic.

And is not an FPS...

Anyway this part of the article nailed it for me:

It is an inarguable truth that Japan once occupied a position of dominance in the videogames space that it has now lost. In 2002, editors of the U.S. gaming enthusiast magazine Electronic Gaming Monthlypublished a list of the top 100 videogames of all time, 93 of which were from Japan. Such a skewed list today would be unimaginable. Besides Nintendo, it’s difficult to name a major Japanese publisher whose games still enjoy the cultural cachet or critical acclaim they did in their heyday.
