This really is a sad topic.
Just a few days ago, I read an article in an israeli newspaper that proves the long history of israeli governments secretly targeting the peace process:
The civil administration was forced to release certain maps, that prove that the israeli civil administration does not even consider giving up occupied palestinian land - quite the contrary, they already have very concrete plans of how to use remaining palestinian land.
"For years Israel’s Civil Administration has been covertly locating and mapping available land in the West Bank and naming the parcels after existing Jewish settlements, presumably with an eye toward expanding these communities."
http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/israel-defense-ministry-plan-earmarks-10-percent-of-west-bank-for-settlement-expansion-1.421589
And these plans for palestinian land can be dated back to at least before the Oslo Accords, so the problem is not only the current Netanyahu/Mr. "We won’t be moving people, we will be moving the borders" Lieberman government. It's been official policy for decades.
I just hope that israelian policy comes to mind before it's too late. And with "too late" I don't mean a ridiculous hypothetical iranian atomic bomb, I mean the inevitable and soon approaching time at which the USA will be losing their strategic interests in Israel, and thus its willingness to kiss the Israeli government's butt.
Israel often behaves like a hypocrite school bully that everyone secrely criticises, but hardly anyone is publically facing up to, mostly because everyone is afraid of the school bully's protective and very strong big brother. But what happens if that strong big brother moves away, or simply decides he doesn't want to defend all the stupid things his smaller brother does anymore?
At that time, we'll be able to see Israel's real friends, and there'll be a few surprises.
