The order of operations also says that you should calculate parentheses (which the number 2 in this case is part of through multiplication) before divisions.

But the parantheses here are synonymous with multiplying, therefore implying that they should be done after the division.

Some people say that while others consider the number 2 to be part of the parenthesis and should be calculated before dividing it outside of the bracket.

I'm just saying that the answer is not determined by science. (But I have also always thought that your way of calculating it should be the correct.)
