Not knocking on you, but in general, why does everyone say that about MS? They've been making graphic APIs since before nVidia bought 3dfx, hell they're on their 11th iteration, about to move onto their 12th. If anyone knows how to make a graphic API it's Microsoft, not Naughty Dog, not Guerrila Games, not Santa Monica. Hell video cards are built around their APIs. If the 360's games, exclusive or not, are a few notches down from what Sony's internal devs have done, that's because the 360s hardware is close to its peak (No hardware will probably ever be at their peaks any more, way to many registers, hardware functions, and programmability). On the flip side the PS3 is also near its peak, which is why you only see Uncharted, God of War and Killzone ahead of the curve. Though ultimately those games don't look next gen better, they just look a few years ahead better. |
At the end of the day the its just an API. Give two devs the same API and there will be different results.
So no matter how good their API is, the final result will be dependant on the developer. So many other issues come in to play when you looking at the developer though. What kind of support is MS giving them? what are their time constraints? what is their budget? and so on and so on.
And many people would say Geears 3 is on the same level as the best of Sony's offerings.
I just cant see how any1 can say theres a tangible difference in power between PS3 and 360...maybe 5/6 years ago. But certainly not now.
