Now, with these current leaked specs, it looks like console manufacture are going to veer from that concept in favor of mass acceptance. In my head it would be like Chrysler or GM destroying the Viper or Corvette because they started to care more about sales than itegrity of the product. Ten years ago, a Viper or Corvette could be had for 50 to 70K for the lead model. Now with the increase in requirments to be competitive with Europe and Asia, along with inflation, a flagship edition of these vehicals will run you about 110 to 120k. These kind of specs for a next gen console would be the equivilent of them deciding they want to go back and try to compete with the Camrey and Accord, so they have to bring these cars back even futhur and make them a 40 to 50k product. Now, in the end it does not matter if these products drop to rediculous prices, 25 to 30k for the cars, or 199 to 249 for the consoles. They serve a market that is not ever going to reach the heights of a Camery or Accord. So, now I see it like MS and Sony have lost their souls to the greed and mass market. Were in the high end tablet market they have the spirit and drive to make the super car, to have that flagship product. Increases in technology have always been driven by a partenership of buisness, and enthusiasts. Buisnesses have the resources to develope the product to the next level, and enthusiasts will spend the cash to bring the tech to the consumer market. If these specs are the case of the next gen, the consoles makers have taken the keys away from the enthusiasts and sold their souls. That is why if these specs are found true, the mobile market, and the PC market will start to eat into their market share, and be able to see massive increases in performance. That is why in year of these consoles launch mobile tech will surpass them. Sony and MS are playing polotics when the consumer wants to be entertained. |
