Firefight pulls in big numbers, besides its pretty much the only mode that i play on Reach nowadays.

Well as far as I remember what Bungie showed us with their Halo statistics, firefight wasn't that big.

I suppose relatively speaking to Reach's 'normal' MP modes Firefight might not be that big, but it's probably still bigger than the entire MP modes of other popular shooters. :)
