d21lewis said: This is actually some good info. Thanks for posting. Good to see how far these two have come in such a small amount of time. My Vita just forced an update when I tried to use "Near" (Near hasn't worked for me at all in days.). I wonder what was upgraded. Hopefully better PSP support! |
I want PS1 support badly.... what is holding them from allowing this already??
I think the PSP support is pretty decent already and it can only get better from here.

I have a lot of PSP games that won't transition to the Vita, though.
- Tetris (The #1 PSN game of last year!)
- Hot Shots Tennis (My number 1 PSP game!!)
- Mod Nation Racers
- Resistance Retribution
- Little Big Planet
- Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
- My PS1 games
- My 300+ Comic Books (cost anywhere from $.99- $5.00 each!)
I don't expect the comics to make the transition since nobody in the world bought them but me. I'm hoping PS1 games cross over because I actually bought a couple just to put on my PSP. The PSP games, I don't know why they wouldn't work on my VIta (though several of my others would--Def Jam Vendetta, Tomb Raider, Gurumin, Crash Tag Team Racing, Peggle, Crazy Taxi, Crimson Gem Saga, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Burnout Dominator, Valkyria Chronicles II). I'd be willing to sell or loan out my PSP if the PSP digital games support were up to par. That's one of the bigger reasons why I was so happy I went mostly digital with the PSP.
Oh, I checked the update. It's Firmware 1.66 and it fixed a glitch with PSP games that didn't work during local online.

Woow that's a lot of stuff lol. I would be more tempted to buy PS1 games off of PSN if they bring the support to the PSV. As of now, FFVI and FFVII are quietly waiting for me on my account. Have you tried downloading the game onto your PS3 and then transferring it? I heard around during the Vita's launch some said you could bypass it by doing that even though that game isn't on the Vita's store. They might have patched it now though.
You went all digital? Lucky you.... you must have saw what was coming ahead of time lol. Luckily for me, I didn't invest in many PSP games. I only have a handful of UMDs so it doesn't hurt me too much =P

Yeah, that's what I did. IGN said it would work if I downloaded to the PS3 and ported but it didn't work. I lucked out with a couple of games. Def Jam and Gurumin weren't supported but they transferred to the Vita, anyway. The rest of them weren't so lucky. I'm sure Sony will allow more games some day. I'm dying to use that right analog stick with more PSP games! And I didn't go entirely digital. I still have six games on UMD. I just realized early on that UMD games loaded more slowly, were fragile, and were a bitch to carry around. Luckily, the Vita's format is a lot more portable!
