@menx64 it wasnt just the hype, there were some people on this very site who were saying that these games would do crazy numbers. 1-2mil. and anyone who argued otherwise was seen as a hater, funny how all those people either vanished or act like they didnt make such claims, even though its right there on the wall. But your right internet hype does not equal real world hype. But that brings me to another query which I will get to in a sec.
You complain about more onrail shooters, but two of the good selling games you mentioned ARE onrail shooters, that makes no sense. If they did so well of course they would make more of those, its just common pratice, no different than HDs being flooded with FPSs.
You dont have to tell me about HOTDOverkill or Madword, I knew those games were not going to set the charts on fire, anyone who thought otherwise was too in love with their WIi. I liked Overkill but that was an on rail shooter, but if thats the case what was HOD2/3 or RE:UC excuse?? Madworld was just overhyped and was never that good. Even if there were no other games to look forward too, someone should have seen Conduit wasnt all that good to begin with. What games should have come out?? Because you say there was no demand for those games and thats why they kinda flopped, but those were core games, so wouldnt one argue that the demand for core games were not that high?? Or were those games simply not that good, despite what forum dwellers were saying and most said nuts to that?? I believe its a bit a both but mostly the latter
