Played some more Resistance 2, it's such a mediocre game.

Uncharted 2 on the other hand has improved for me, although it didn't meet the expectations that have developed as a result of the hype that every fanboy raves about, it's still a GOOD game so far - at Nepal so far.

KZ2 I gave up on till I download the update for it, which won't be for a while, as it'll take a few hours.

Yeah, that tends to happen. The hype actually ends up hurting the experience because you keep looking for that mind blowing moment that doesn't exist.  Without the expectations, you'll enjoy them more.  For example, I got Uncharted 3 the day it came out and was a little let down by it.  A few days ago, I saw somebody playing the demo in Gamestop and I just stopped and watched them play because it suddenly looked more impressive!  In the attempts to make our console look better and make others feel inferior, we tend to overhype things to an unreasonable level.  360 guys try to make it seem like the online, Kinect, and controller are so much better but really, it's almost the same as a PS3.  PS3 owners try to make it seem like the graphics are on some other level, the exclusives are so awesome, and that they change out their HDD every Tuesday when the experience is almost identical to the Xbox 360.  There are a couple of differences between the two but they aren't really things that most people actually care about.  At least you get to see it first hand, now.

With that said, I'll agree with what others have already posted:  Get Valkyria Chronicles.  It's a fun and charming SRPG.  Very well made game and quite a unique experience.  I also enjoyed Heavy Rain though it's more movie than game.  The story keeps you hooked.  If you don't know who the killer is, I say buy it.

I also think these games are worth checking out at some point:

  • God of War 3:  Not the best playing or the best story but it's a beautiful looking game.  Some awesome set pieces justify the purchase.
  • inFamous:  I was disappointed with it but you may enjoy the feeling of becoming more powerful more than I did.
  • Uncharted 3: Not as balanced as Uncharted 2 but still a good time with some fun characters.
  • MGS4:  If you played the other games, I say buy it.  If not, don't worry about it.  Be warned:  It's nowhere near what people hype it up to be.

As usual, I would love to hear your impressions on the PS3 as a whole.  Controller, hardware, online, games, etc.

So far I'd say that the hardware is practicall on par with 360, the controller is somewhat annoying to get used to as it's considerably smaller and playing FPS games on it just feels.. Wrong.

The KZ controls are heavy, clunky, and pretty shit tbh. Although I am a big fan of both Battlefield and COD, this is the heavyweight champion it appears, it's just slow, takes ages to aim down, and the weapons feel useless, maybe that's due to the fact that there were practically no games going in Europe, so I had to join one from Asia, so I kept lagging like a little bitch, literally emptying clips into enemies that only appear in the kill feed and finally collapse after about 10 seconds or so.

Overall the multiplayer seems to be a broken heavy mess and controlling the character is a chore, aiming is considerably slowed(Have to drag the scope it seems). The online is quiet and desolate, no one has any microphones, as these games are exclusives I am probably more lucky in regards to service as there are designated servers I think - not sure if the same applies to multiplats like COD/Fifa etc.

The system seems to be slow in general, the loading screens can be agitatingly slow, the updates are beyond terrible and extremely large. So far I am finding myself confused navigating the dashboard equivelant, but then again, I've just recently started, so will probably get used to it.

The controller really does let it down for me, as I much prefer the 360 controller. I really need to play the likes of KZ3/UC3 to see whether there is actually THAT drastic a difference in regards to graphics, because I am not wowed so far, there is a difference, but nowhere as drastic as most make it out to be during the 2009 games - UC2/KZ3, for example I thought some multiplats during that time period have been almost on the same level, despite being multiplats.

I am slightly disappointed with my purchase, as so far, it doesn't really do anything beside looking pretty (I got the 80GB old model "phat" as I've always prefered the look of them compared to slim)
