I'm sorry to anyone who thinks Sega could have survived with the DreamCast they did not leave the hardware industry by choice. Sega was shedding staff like a hole in a water balloon they shut down all unnecessary operations. I believe Sega stated they had twice as many hardware units unsold sitting in warehouses as were sold.

Sega had so many unsold units continuing to manufacture them would have been their death. In fact Sega continued bleeding money after they left the hardware industry. They had almost no studios and resorted to releasing DreamCast ports to survive.Sammy saved Sega from bankruptcy they wouldn't have lasted more then another year if Sammy hadn't saved them.

Now someone suggested a newer model, lol do you realize how.much money goes into launching new hardware? R&D , marketing, advertising getting it on shelves. Sega couldn't have even started a new model they would have crashed. The choice to leave hardware was to survive and a very last resort!
