Vita will have the same problem PSP has had, because Sony hasn't really seen the issue. The Vita will need a Japanese Miracle similar to the miracle in the form of Monster Hunter that came to the PSP if it wants to ever touch PSP's lifetime sales.

I'd have to agree, however, can Sony rely on Monster Hunter again, like they did with the PSP? If the 3DS has 2 Monster Hunter games out (including a NEW entry to the franchise), then the selling power of the series for the Vita, while still large, would be nothing like that of the PSP.

I highly doubt anyone is going to bother with Monster Hunter on 3ds once it makes it way to Vita

Why would that be? It's on 3DS now, and the Japanese seem to be going for it (seen quite a few of them on the train and elsewhere playing Monster Hunter on their 3DSes). PS Vita would need an existing fanbase first for people to go for it.

This is, of course, assuming that any real Monster Hunter game makes its way to Vita (a port of Portable 3rd HD not being real). Nintendo's going to fight hard to keep it on their side, and they did a fairly good job of pitching Tri in the West, so Capcom may lean on Nintendo's capabilities the way Square Enix is doing with Dragon Quest.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
