3G fast GDDR5 is around $75. Add board complexity (more planes required at those speeds), more power supply circuitry, more cooling, basically more of everything. VITA is (if we believe Sony, which is reasonable, as the only unknown is the costs of the mOLED screen) sold above manufacturing costs (but obviously below production costs currently). The PS3 never sold below manufacturing costs, but had prohibitive production costs attached to it which made it lose about $2-300 on each unit sold initially. The next XBox2/PS4/WiiU CPUs won't be "exponentialy" more powerful than the Cell/Xeon. Even a CPU three times as powerful as the cell/Xeon would be prohibitivly expensive to manufacture.
