Scroll up to a few posts where I talked about dogs.. Basically, it doesn't matter where they come from (or how they adapted to their home planet). If they can space travel then their bodies would adapt to zero gravity space travel. So they could be some big hideous monster on their home planet but after traveling for awhile in space (I believe even with galactic short cuts that space travel would still take awhile) that they would adapt to zero gravity.
Here is another example... There are fish in caves that have no eyes. They lost their eyes since there is no need due to the darkness. Usually, it would be a disadvantage not to be able to see but if you have been evolving in a place that having eyes doesn't even make a difference then why would the body put effort into keeping that part of the body. Sort of like how humans have a tail bone. Where is our tail?
