I first played Resident Evil when it came out in 1996 (I even have the classic giant box!), I was 10 years old... Having grown up with the series, seeing it go down this path is like watching an old friend fall into a downward spiral of alcoholism or drug use. Each successive Resident Evil game takes fewer and fewer active brain cells to complete, and makes me yearn more and more for 'the good old days'.

Would it really kill them to at least have a side project that somewhat reflects the classic play style? With the original static camera angles it wouldn't be difficult, or at all costly to design and distribute a game for the niche classic Resident Evil fans (I'd even accept a handheld game!). I remember reading on several occasions they made statements about returning to the series' roots, but I've yet to see them do so.

I gotta throw this in there; this is another shining example of a Japanese company not forging its own path in the gaming market. They really need to follow the beat of their own drum instead of playing follow the leader... Resident Evil used to be one of the best in horror games when they exercised creative freedom, now it's a mediocre shooter/cash grab trying to appeal to the west (while I did enjoy RE4, it didn't satisfy my need for a classic Resident Evil game... So I've been hungry since RE0.). D:
