And odd that these facts are emerging only now. You would think Zimmermann would have made it clear that he had been jumped at the scene, to better reinforce the idea that he was being substantively threatened right off the bat?

He did, I imagine. That's probably why he wasn't arrested, although the police did confiscate his gun. I'm not sure why his side of the story is just now coming out, but it sounds like Zimmerman's lawyer was making the media rounds today and the cops finally released some information that seems to - for now, at least - corroborate elements of his story.

Which would show that the speed of the justice system needs to better-adapt to the speed of the mass-media if they want to protect the innocent. No way he's getting a fair trial at this point, because of all the protests and such that have already ocurred...
