i think they are doing this to ensure that 360 sales will keep up with ps3's sales when the next generation starts so ps3 doesnt pass the 360 in sales ltd

You're right, they so give a shit about that.

The only ones who actually care about the ltd sales anymore are the fanboys and believers(Who have been believing since 2006). Although it's nice to see the sales, the novelty has worn off now, seeing as this gen is 7 years in now.

then why else would they do it?

Microsoft said that they want the 360 to sell more hardware than PS3 when its all said and done..

Money, Microsoft is a corporation, having a product that is a smaller price point and appeals to a wide audience will be a sure source of income  and continue the products longivity, after all, having old tech that is cheap to manufacture selling at still a reasonable price with profit, means profit. Profit means more money, it's simple. Every company would do that, I like how you jumped to that conclusion though, you seem to live on Mars or something.

lol well somebody seems to be defensive

yea they want profit but they also want to sell more than ps3 and nothing you say will change that..

if they release an xbox lite then MS wont have to drop the price of the 4gb arcade system AGAIN

"longevity" is the key ;)

and no i live on Venus =P
