One does wonder who is to blame, however. If Zipper failed only after Sony bought them outright, was it an issue of the kind of games Sony was making them make? Is it a casualty of poor publisher strategy or a death brought on by studio rot?

If anyone's to blame, it's PS3 owners for not buying the games. But in seriousness, the problem is that these were pretty good games competing with a sea of amazing games; many of which are also PS3 exclusive. Sony are just doing what MS has already done and paring back investment on the mature platform, which has already achieved critical mass. It's better to focus investment on the next generation and leave this gen to the hits.
