It's not that easy. As your body grows larger you need more food to keep you from going hungry. That is why it's very hard to eat little per day for them.

The fat controls them more.  It was once thought that fat cells just lied dormant not doing much to the body.  It is no believed that they help control one's appetite.  So the more fat cells you accumulate the more hunger signals that get sent out.

Indeed, but something seems to not be working properly there. I think you meant more fat -> more leptin secreted -> less hunger signals (acts on the hypothalamus)

Here is the link that I was referring to.

You are right about leptin controlling hunger but this is the part that I was trying to point out..

"In recent studies, evidence has shown that fat tissue -- far from being a dormant storage depot for surplus calories -- is actually an active organ that sends chemical signals to other parts of the body with profound and sometimes harmful effects to your body. Fat seems to have an infinite capacity to make more of itself."

Not really much of a point but I was trying to state that they multiply easier the more you have or something like that.  The more fat you have the easier it is to accumulate even more.

Another good quote from the article.

"While we are still in the early stages of research, new discoveries and findings make an even more compelling argument for controlling those billions of fat cells in your body. As Gokhan S. Hotamisligil, a professor of genetics and metabolism at the Harvard School of Public Health says, "Many people think your brain controls your fat. We promote the idea that your fat controls your brain."
