Sony's 3D helmet beat's MS's one, sony's one makes it look like you're looking at a 700" screen, the MS one only offers 21" :P xD .
Now really i like the idea of the whole augmented reality part of it, but i could never see myself waring this thing, same with the sony helmet, not a chance..

I belive the Sony one is only 150". Take a look.

21" is pretty small so it should be a lot more affordable than the Sony one. If it's only 2D then that cuts the price in half. So I can totally see something like this being bundled into a next-gen system.

I thought this was gonna be an impossibility but your comment did open my eyes a bit.

The size the screen appears to be has nothing to do with the cost. Resolution and type of display is what matters, the rest is simple optical illusion. The sony has 2 OLED 1280x720 screens. It supports 3D, only supporting 2D doesn't make it cheaper, you still need 2 screens.
The Sony one costs $1200,-. Even a 852x480 vizor has no chance of being included with a console for the time being.
(A professional 1920x1080 set with headtracking will still set you back 30K btw)

I was considering getting one at one point to watch 3D movies, but $1200 for 720p is too much.

Which is the reason why MS is building a cheap one... Like what Samsung did to Sony Bravia in the tv business.

Even if they made it for 1/4 of the price that's still $300, it might be an accessory sold separately for nextbox, but at that price there's no way it would be a pack in item for every unit. As it is MS will be packing in Kinect 2.0 with every nextbox, packing in 2 non-essential peripherals seems like a bit much.

But you never know.
