I've had time to digest it, and, even factoring in the ending, this is still the best BioWare game that I've played, full-stop. Granted that jsut means that it beats out KotOR, but that's still saying a lot.

"Note to self, buy Khuutra a copy of Baldur's Gate II for this year's Secret Santa."

In all seriousness, it is the best of the trilogy, even including the ending. It's just unfortunate that the ending sucks out much of my desire to replay the single-player. Knowing the destination makes the journey feel rather pointless for me. On the flipside, it feels like the team learned quite a bit over the course of the trilogy, so with luck the next game should be simply stellar.

Also in all seriousness, play Baldur's Gate II. There's a reason the internet still raves about it over a decade later.

You're the fourth person this week to bark up this particular tree. As I told the other three: I'll get to it. I'll buy it, crank down the difficulty, and experience it just for the story soonish.
