I don't think people really want to think abou the fact that each of their organs have a natural frequency which is basically electromagnetic. The difference here would be that the EM wave will be amplified in the direction of the charging device. It seriously can't be beneficial to be exposed to that ALL THE TIME. But these utterances are a little misplaced on a vg forum... O_o |
I haven't looked at the tech but it can't be transmitting anything powerful ALL the time as it would be a massive waste of power... I would think it works a bit more like RFid in that there is a small field for identification purposes, and when your phone comes within radius it starts transmitting power (which would be the more powerful field).
It's at that point that I should probably look into the tech, as I don't know how it transmits the power wirelessly. I know it's possible to transfer power over a distance by microwaves, which is done directionally, so perhaps the charging device can locate the phone/handheld through the intial identification, then beam power directly to it, which means unless you put your head between the two devices no harm will come.
If the method of transferring power is by a broadcast EM field, then I guess it remains to be seen what kind of effect that might have one someone... although I would still want to understand how it works because if 'power' is being broadcast in a 360 degree field... does there need to be a disproportionate amount of power going into the charger compared to what you get on the device being charged. If the wireless charging tech uses up twice as much mains power to charge your phone as a wired method I think we should be telling people to shut the fuck up being lazy and careless and get used to plugging in.
