Wow, thats quite a chunk of cash for a game. On the other hand, at work my company picked up a project to develop a web presense for someone and they told us that previous to going with us, they spent close to 4 million dollars over three years and had to scrap it and start over. Big companies can bleed crazy amounts of money over time if projects go into limbo land. Has the project been in development by the same people the entire time? Maybe the dev studio went bankrupt and got sold to someone else who then re-invested in it (repeat several times)... As for the game itself, sounds like a neat concept =).

Silicone Knights has been "constantly" developing this game for about 8 to 10 years; there has been a steady stream of hype for this and it was supposed to sell well for the Playstation, N64, Gamecube and (now) XBox 360. It has been suggested that Nintendo and Silicone Knights ended their relationship because Nintendo refused to continue funding this game ...

I personally have doubts about this game because it has been in development for so long ...
