Why do people keep claiming that it'sgoing to perform as well as FFXII with a fraction of the install base?

The PS barely had 8.5 million users when FFVII launched, yet that game did nearly 10 million LT sales and topped 2 million first week in Japan alone. FFXII is noted with just a little over half of FFVII's sales.

FFXIII is the series debut on a new platform, much like FFVII and is easily the most anticipated title for the PS3. Even new franchises on the PS3 with a little over 9 million users have 2-3 million sales some of them, so to assume that the most anticipated title will sell this well makes sense to most people.

And besides; a commonly used argument in here is that everyone who wants MGS, FF or GT allready own a PS3, so there's 9.44 million potential buyers... j/k

But still; you don't want anything good to happen to Sony, do you? Be a bit more subtle, it's getting old.

Yep, FF7 and FF10 launched each with 5.2 million PS1s and PS2s in Japan.  PS3 base will be bigger by the time FF13 launches (still ways away)

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
