It was 'cool' in 2008...mainstream by 2010..it will be dead by next year.

But, but, but... I thought you loved 3D??.

loved is the correct word. 2 years ago it was cool and fresh...today i cant wait till it dies off so i dont have to pay a premium to watch movies that are only in 3d and have no business being in 3d.

So you don't think 3D adds to films that are shot in 3D and not just converted??, You don't think 3D no longer adds anything to games??. I thought you used to love playing games in 3D, so whats changed about that part??

Probably the same thing as happened to me in '98. You get used to it, the novelty wears off. You start noticing the effect less and less as your brain catches on that it's not real 3D and you start noticing the crosstalk more and more. Then you realize that a brighter, higher resolution, higher framerate 2D picture outweighs the benefits of 3D.

As long as you have to look through darkened glasses or have to keep your head in 1 spot while watching, 2D will win out in the long run.

But if things keep going as they have been, then we'll get a new wave of 3D in 2018, maybe with active headtracking glasses free 3D tvs this time.
