Wouldn't that completely defeat the purpose of Solid State Drive games? If Microsoft ditches optical media they would want to enforce it not make it optional. They would want to make it standard for gaming consoles wouldn't they? If anyone can swallow the costs it would be Microsoft.
I just don't believe Microsoft would do something this revolutionary. It's a lot easier and cheaper to just ship the console with a large HDD and install games to that. If physical media really is "dying" like a lot of people say, why try and push a new more expensive one?
This rumor is fake. The negatives far outweigh the positives.
