On another note: I think Shane was infected but not in the way the other zombies were. Like the police officers who also had no signs of bite marks, I think he got a small dose of zombie infection and it slowly ate away at his psyche, eventually exaggerating his killing tendencies. Like when he was in the barn... That freak out was a sign, I think. I also think the place he got infected was on the bus when he cut himself to lure and kill a couple zombies in the bus door.

How would you explain Randall?

Randall had just as much opportunity to get infected the same way with all of his open wounds. Remember he did some walker killing too.
