I would agree with this except for the fact if it was implemented than many teams would probably just play the entire overtime super defensively and try to force the shootout. Especially teams that dominate in the shootout like the avs. This would obviously benefit teams with more offensive skill as having many great shooters are more likely to win you the shootout. It would certainly benefit teams like the avs and Chicago, but hurt teams that rely more on wins using defense and neutral zone boring slow down hockey. I would rather see the fast paced highly offensive overtimes we see now.

GMs are discussing the rules soon, it should be interesting to see if there are many changes. I say eliminate the salary cap again. As the avs are owned by the Super rich Walmart partial owner Stan Kronke, who will pay his way to the best team if he could. He did it before the salary cap.
