What was so bad about it? Have I missed something?

People expected a mini E3 and got a 4-5min long showreel showing off about 5 games that people already knew about or were just more rehashed upscaled ports.

Yeah, Sony never really billed it up, but the internet got a little too excited

Exactly what Xxain said. Sony themselves called it Game Heaven. They have only themselves to blame for people getting excited.

The problem is by calling it that and the way they announced it was that made it seem like there was going to be something big.... and there really wasn't. The two big new things we learned were that Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming.... in 2013 and that a super robot wars game is in the planning stage so ermmmm maybe late 2013 too. Considering the event was meant to combat the bad sales in Japan the two biggest announcements being things that are at bare minimum 9 months away is pretty damning.

Although the gundam game could also possibly be big. The Z.A.F.T games were ridiculously popular, then GvG, Next and Extreme were immensely popular. However looking at the footage it seems like there is a very strong possibility that it is a mild remake of Z.A.F.T. II (or I and II) which would be pretty popular but at the same time it went Zaft, Zaft 2, GvG, Next, Extreme, Extreme plus. So it would be pretty out of date.

Honestly it seems like they are taking the events even further in the wrong direction. It seems they want this to be like a series, I'm guessing so that literally as soon as there is something to announce they can have an event and try and show people there are games coming. However by doing constant little events it's just going to sap away hype. Doing lots of little events has far less impact that doing one HUGE event.

However what they could do is rebrand it. No Game Tengoku nonsense. Give it a more down to earth title. Then use it to draw attention to the smaller Vita games coming out (like Dokuro and Legend of Heroes) since those are the type of titles that probably won't get mentioned at big events. Then save up the big titles for a proper event.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.
