I played as an engineer, because it was such a weak class in the first game and I wanted a challenge in this one. Holy shit. Engineers >>> Everything else. Most fights don't last more than fifteen seconds, including the bigger enemies.
Nonsense. The entirety of his speech there, as well as the Reaper you take down on Rannoch, are completely on point. They say their goals and motivations are beyond our understanding. They are completely correct.
I understand his point. The way they did it now basically boils down to "write your own damn ending." That's not particularly satisfying.
I understand that there's a way to get it without having to pay that price. You will have had to pay a different price in the first game, though. |

I don't think people completely understand what Sovereign said in the first one. He is clear when he says that he is the "Vanguard of Destruction", In other words, the Reapers will come and slaugther all organic life, not to save them, but to completely destroy them.
Now if you listen to Harbinger closely, he implies that he is trying to save organic life, in his own words "salvation through destruction". The Reaper in ME3 repeats the same thing. All of this is completely different from Sovereign's own speech.
Remember, the lead writer in ME1 was hinting at dark matter destroying all life in the galaxy, not some singularity invoving Al and organics. This is hinted several times, including Tali's recruitment mission in ME2 (dark matter was consuming the Sun near Haestrom) but there is no mention of this in ME3 at all.
I have read both leaked scripts of ME3. A lot of content was cut, including dialogue (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=booBmcFw_Lk I have no idea why this was cut down, it brings more emotion to the scene in general). Did you know that there were 4 different ways that Shepard managed to get to the beam in London (based on War assets) and we got the worst one of the bunch?
The ending in ME3 does make ME1 insignificant in many ways. The biggest one is the fact that if the Guardian (kid) could open the Citadel at any time, why was Sovereign needed? He knew Sovereign was there to open the Mass Relay in the Citadel, so why didn't he do it?
The biggest issues I have with the endings in ME3, by far is the Normandy scene. The Mass Relays allow instantaneous transit between locations, so why is Joker trying to outchase the beam when he should already be at the set destination anyways? Why is the Normandy using a Mass Relay in the first place? How in the hell did Garrus and Ashley (who were on Earth with me before the final dash to the conduit) manage to board the Normandy during all of this?
