You say the Persians (Iranians nowadays for those who don't know) are always trying to take over the Middle East and yet whenever I look at recent the Middle Eastern history I see no proof of that. The only ally they have are the Arab Hezbollah because of the Shia Islam relation and they have strategic parterships with the Syrian Assad regime and Hamas due to a common foe. Hamas are Sunni and support the Syrian uprising (they've left Syria now) and only really allied to Iran out of necessity but ideologically they are not so close. I see a hell of a lot of American domination over the past 60 odd years (though less now than before) but Iran with their small defense budget (less than 2%- lowest in the region), dated military and middle income economy vs the US, UK, France, Israel and the GCC and their state of the art military and advanced economies? No chance.
