Don't think so. It has probably been downloaded a lot more than that if the free version is counted. And it's only 99 cents, so not that hard to believe

Ah okay so people bought the ad free version for 99 cents.  I just assumed the sold and free versions were grouped together to make the all powerful numbers statement.

I don't think the free version has all the levels of the paid version either.

This is what I found:

"By November 2011, the game had reached 500 million downloads, including Angry BirdsAngry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio."

"Based on a sample of American consumers, 45% went onto purchase the paid version of the original Angry Birds game. That is a very high percentage for freemium purchases even at the tier 1 price point"

If you apply 45% across the board and use that to figure out a likely amount of revenue from sales, you get revenue of $222million from 500million downloads.
