Things this simcity needs:

-Lots of freeway types w/ custom onramp/off ramp design.
-Road customization to the point of paths in rollercoaster tycoon. You can make a road go up/down/into the ground/etc.
-Advanced road drawing mode where you can design before you confirm building the road (see iPhone simcity)
- Upgradable roads where you can add extra lanes, carpool lanes, shoulders, etc. We already know we are getting curvy roads which is awesome.
-Intersection customization - convert from stop sign to stop light. Put in yielding right turns. Control stoplight timing, road priorities, etc. 3-5 pronged intersections if desired.
- Circle intersections of course.
- More methods of transportation: light rail, monorail, bike trails, subways, customizable subway stations, etc.
- Sim copter mode where you can fly over your city and use the megaphone. (get movin' you stupid Canadians!)
- Elections. Sort of controversial but it could be an option you turn on. Every x years... an election is run to see if you can continue playing your city. You can spend lots of money and buy off people, or you can try and get a good mayor rating... your opponent would be random but would get harder and harder as you kept playing the game.
- Park zones. For god's sakes park zones. (can't tell you how annoying placing little parks everywhere can be).
- Real time. You can slow the game down to the point where 1 hour in real life is 1 hour in the game world. Or you can speed it up so that a year goes by in a minute. Big giant slider to control this :)
- Rewind button. Hey Pushmo had it!

- Feel free to add to this!

Most of the road/transport things you mentioned were added to Sim City 4 via modding, (if you play SC4, look up the NAM - network addon mod - it's brilliant, a must-have) so it would be a shame if they don't appear in SC5.  Controlling intersections sounds way too complicated, menial, too much micro-management is a very bad thing.

But, park zones.  Yes. Please.  This.  So bad.

Yeah they basically need to look at that mod and make sure everything there is in the next one. :)

As for the micro-management, I agree. But I've enjoyed games (like rollercoaster tycoon) where that level of micromanagement is available but not essential. Basically if you don't do anything the computer will do it for you, but if you want to get in and tweak your city, you can.
